Masked Aadhaar PDF Password: How to Open Your Aadhaar File

First 4 letters of your name in CAPITAL LETTERS + Year of Birth (YYYY) — total 8 characters, no space.

Name is taken exactly as printed on your Aadhaar (English version). Year of birth is the 4-digit year from your DOB.

• Anu, DOB 03/07/1995 → ANU1995 (name shorter than 4 letters → use full name + YYYY, total 7 chars)
• M.K. Suresh, DOB 1980 → M.K.1980 (special characters included, first 4 chars as printed)
• Sunita Devi, YOB only 1975 → SUNI1975
• Om Prakash Jha, DOB 1982 → OMPR1982

• Using lowercase — password is case-sensitive; RAVI1992 works, ravi1992 does not
• Using the full name instead of first 4 letters — only the first 4 matter
• Using date of birth (DDMMYYYY) instead of year — only YYYY
• Using surname first — use the name in the order printed on Aadhaar
• Including a space between name and year — no space

• Confirm the year of birth on your Aadhaar (some older Aadhaars show only YOB, not full DOB — use that YOB)
• Check the exact English spelling on Aadhaar — the password uses the English name, not the Hindi/regional version
• Try opening in Adobe Acrobat Reader (some in-browser PDF viewers handle password prompts poorly)
• Re-download from https://myaadhaar.uidai.in — the file may be corrupted

After entering the password, open the PDF in Adobe Reader. You should see a blue ribbon: 'Signed and all signatures are valid'. Click it to confirm signer is NIC sub-CA for Digital Signature, National Informatics Centre. A missing or invalid signature means the file was tampered with — re-download from UIDAI.
